Please make note, as of today through early next week, low flying aircraft and helicopters will be throughout our area as part of the Tennessee Department of Health‘s air drop program of oral rabies vaccine packets. This program is managed in partnership with USDA Wildlife Services in an attempt to reduce rabies in wildlife and protect the local communities.
The program is a three-week program, with Polk County scheduled primarily for October 3-9.
Packets are safe, but as a precaution please remove any that may be nearby to your pets and wear gloves when handling.
For more information on the program or any questions, please call the USDA Wildlife Services toll-free rabies line at (866) 487-3297 or TN Department of Health at (615) 741-7247.
