The Annual 4-H Poultry Show and Sale will be held Saturday, Sept. 11th starting at 9:00 A.M. The Show will be held at the 4-H Show-barn in Benton. 35 4-H members from across Polk County started their poultry project last spring when they received 12 baby chicks provided by the Polk County 4-H Clubs. The 4-H members have been responsible for the care of the chicks and will bring 3 pullets to the show and compete for Grand Champion 4-H pullet and other awards that will be awarded. The 4-H poultry project teaches 4-H members life skills such as responsibility and accomplishment. After the show the pullets will be auctioned off with the money going to the 4-H Clubs. 4-H members in the project have worked hard this past summer raising their pullets for this Saturday’s Show. The pullets which are red star pullets are good layers and will produce high quality farm fresh eggs for many years. The Polk County 4-H Office encourages everyone interested in purchasing pullets to come to the sale on Sept. 11th which will start approximately 10:00 A.M. The Polk County 4-H Program is open at all youth ages 9 – 19.
