Children 15-years-old and younger are invited to participate in the Kids Fishing Day at the Cherokee National Forest.
The Cherokee National Forest and Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency have two rain-or-shine events scheduled in April.
The first event on April 6 will be held from 7:00 am to 12:00 pm at the McKamy Lake at the Chilhowee Recreation Area.
“From Hwy 64, turn onto Oswald Road (National Forest Service Road 77) towards Chilhowee Mountain. Continue for approximately seven miles to the Chilhowee Recreation area. Signs will be posted.”
The second event on April 20 will be held from 7:00 am to 11:00 am at Spring Creek.
“From Hwy 411, take the turn to Gee Creek Campground and follow NFSR 27 toward Spring Creek Shooting Range. The turn off Hwy 411 is approximately six miles north of Benton and five miles south of Etowah.”
Forest services say catchable size trout will be stocked for the event. A non-fishing parent or guardian must accompany children at the event. Licenses and permits are not required for those under age 13.
