10/5 Tyler Boyd to Speak at Republican Meeting

The Polk Co Republican Party’s October meeting will be held Monday, October 5th at 7 p.m. at the courthouse in Benton. Tyler Boyd will be the guest speaker. He is the great grandneph-ew of TN Statesman Harry T. Burn who cast the decisive vote giving women the right to vote. He has authored a book, “Tennessee Statesman Harry T. Burn: Woman Suffrage, Free Elections and a Life of Service” and is in the process of writing a new book of the comprehensive story of the history of ma-chine politics in Polk Co. This book will include the time when the Good Government League took power from 1948 – 1964. He will have copies of his book for sale. Everyone is invited.
