What do fall field trips involve?

Your children will get the opportunity to enjoy our entire farm (weather permitting) when they come on a field trip with The River Maze. They will have time in an educational session designed for them. This fall’s lessons will be “All About Pumpkins”.  You will visit the pumpkin patch (good Lord willin’ and the creek don’t rise!) for a variety of sizes and colors of pumpkins that you can choose one right off the vine to take home or purchase more if you want.  Birchland Farm is also the only farm within 50 miles that features “Spookley, the Square Pumpkin”.  Spookley teaches lessons on tolerance and kindness and is the national symbol for the campaign against bullying in schools.  The lessons will be based on national standards.  The students will play some of our fun farm games, and  explore our new kiddie zip lines! You will be able to take a hayride to the soybean maze too.  The 2020 Soybean Maze will feature the logo of “Trek Thru Truth”. What a great way to make some memories!

What should I wear?

It is October, so it’s recommend being prepared for cool weather. Dress as if you were going camping.  The farm also recommends wearing closed-toe shoes or sneakers. Remember that you will be in a farm atmosphere and that sometimes the paths can be bumpy.

COVID Statement:  Be safe and practice social distancing which should not be a problem since there is plenty of room on the farm.  For those whom do not feel comfortable taking the hayride, you can feel free to walk to the pumpkin patch as this year it is in walkable distance at the lower field.
