Former Chief Justice of the Cherokee Nation’s Supreme Court Troy Wayne Poteete will be sharing his thoughts on the Treaty Party that negotiated the 1835 Treaty of New Echota. The treaty led to the removal of Cherokee from their native lands. The event will be held at Tennessee Wesleyan University in Athens, Tennessee. This is a free event that is open to the public. The event is co sponsored by the Tennessee Trail of Tears Association and Tennessee Wesleyan University.
